I felt the need to tell a bit more about our visit to NY, also because the events after returning would fill very little in a post.
One of the very cool and wonderful experiences was a trip by ferry to Liberty and Ellis Island. We had mananged to arrange to meet with a friend, whom we studied with in New Zealand, from New Jersey and her boyfriend, to go on that trip and in general enjoy a day together. It was great and also happened to be the best weather of our whole stay. The girl with the torch looks great in real life, especially when the torch seems to be on fire in the burning rays of the sun.
Ellis Island and the immigrant musseum was an experience. It was truly fascinating and I could have spent even more hours there, than I did. It was also the first place where I felt like being very close to history, as this was the place – among others – where the US sort of was created.
You also get a picture of the Mate and me by Miss Independence. After seeing those pictures I had to admit that my waist seems to have disappeared to give way to a rather joyfull belly…

Last but not least I’d better reveal what my yarn-shopping resulted in. From the top left; a cone fine wool from Habu, ½ oz. steel/merino from same place, 2 skeins of sea and sun dyed yarn from Nanney, (lower row from left) 2 skeins of Shibui sock yarn and 2 skeins of Lorna’s Laces sock yarn both only represented once and both purchased in Knitty City, 1 skein of pure bamboo and a skein fine merino both from Habu. I total 647 grams of fibery luxus for the shopping account.
