Jeg skal på min første udenlandskonference i morgen. Turen går til Paris, og jeg har taget en fridag efter konferencen til bare at dalre rundt og nyde byen. Mens jeg går her og finder artikler og ordner rejsedokumenter og tænker over pakning, er der et par spørgsmål, der bliver ved at rumstere i hovedet…
- Hvilket/hvilke (for at være ærlig, er det sidste nok mest sandsynligt) projekter skal jeg tage med? En sok (eller to), Miss Beezy? Eller måske et nyt sjal med tynde pinde og tyndt garn (god underholdning i forhold til plads).
- Er der mon nogen der kender en god garnbutik eller stofbutik som man skal besøge?
- Mon jeg kan nå solnedgangen ved Sacre Coeur fredag og høre denne sang (min yndlings), mens jeg sidder deroppe?
I am going for my first conference abroad tomorrow. It’s in Paris and I have taken a vacation day afterwards to be able to walk about and enjoy the town. While I’m going about the work finding article, arranging my travelling documents and think about packing, I have a couple of questions running around in my head…
- Which project(s) (to be honest, the likelihood is that there will be multiple) should I take along? A sock (or two), Miss Beezy? Or perhaps a new shawl on small needles and with lace yarn (good entertainment considering the weight).
- Do anyone know a good yarn shop or fabric shop that I should visit?
- Can I make it into town to see the sunset sitting by Sacre Coeur on Friday, while I’m listening to this song (my favorite)?

åh, dejligt for dig at få rejse til Paris og samtidig få lidt alenetid. jeg ville tage med noget helt hjernelöst, f.eks. din Beezy eller en sok. når man strikket på et hotelrum om aftenen efter en hel dag på konference er hjernen som regel en anelse træt, i hvert fald hos mig. og når man sidder på café et nyt sted og strikker vil man jo gerne kunne nyde omgivelserne. god fornöjelse!!

When I go to Paris, I like going to ‘Le Bon Marché’ It’s a big department store and on the 3rd floor there is fabric and yarn, it’s beautiful

And whilst you’re on the Sacré Coeur, just go down the stairs on your left and there are plenty of fabric stores (“Marché Saint-Pierre”)
Remember yarn in French is “laine” (you pronounce “len”), or specifically “laine à tricoter” to knit 🙂

My mother also told me to visit Bon Marché, and we’ve marked it with an x on the map 😉

Jeg var forbi La Droguerie i Paris sidst jeg var der, kiggede mest da der var mange mennesker og lang ekspeditionstid, men jeg synes den er et besøg værd, en lidt anderledes garn- og stofbutik i forhold til hvad man er vant til. Omtalt her: http://craftzine.com/travelcrafty/paris/

God tur!
Det er bare skønt med en enkelt dags egotid på en fremmed destination, jeg gør det næste hver gang. Sidst var det en hel løørdag i Firenze.
Jeg stemmer for et nemt og transportabelt projekt, når kun at strikke på rejsen.

La drogerie og stofbutikkerne ved sacre coure! Helt sikkert! Køb en af la’ drogeries bøger – bare fordi de er fiiine. (Arh, ved ikke lige om det er din stil – men jeg er meget meget glad for min – og fortryder lidt at jeg ikke købte lidt flere:)

How exciting! I love Paris. So – best places for fabric and yarn – I agree Bon Marche as it has lots of yarn and a small branch of La Droguerie – but my favourite shop is in my favourite area – Entree des Fournisseurs in the Marais – fantastic shop = website is http://www.entredesfournisseurs.fr – (it’s at 8 Rue des Francs Bourgeois – in a small courtyard) they have beautiful yarn, wool felt, the most amazing buttons and nice books. Check out the Paris posts on my blog – there is a label for them – I have posted all about fabric shops – the best ones are at the foot of Sacre Coeur – Marche San Pierre. Eat crepes at Creperie Suzette. La Droguerie is a fantastic shop but you could queue for hours in there – you have to ask an assistant for everything – if you only have a day I would avoid it – and if you are in Bon Marche then you’ll get an idea of what they have. The foodhall in Bon Marche is also fantastic! I am going to Paris for a day in April and will certainly visit Entree des Fournisseurs – the other shops in the Marais are also great – you could get cakes at Florence Finkelstein’s beautiful bakery or just wander the shops in the Marais – Muji and the likes.

Splendid recomendations in your posts. I’ve added several crafty possibilities to my list. Also good advice regarding La Drogerie, and since you say it has a selection in Le Bon Marché, I think I’ll look there instead.
Am really looking forward to wandering around Sacre Coeur and seeing all the sights (fabric and otherwise) 😉

Gaden lige nedenfor Sacre Coeur (ned ad trapperne til venstre) har flere stofbutikker. Hvis du vil opleve lidt så prøv at gå bagom Sacre Coeur – på bagsiden har munkene en lille vinmark midt i Paris 🙂

Hvis du vil strikke på kongressen, skal du tage miss beezy med. Kongresser er geniale til at komme igennem mange, lange, kedelige pinde på kjoler.
En sok er dog også en god idé til udenfor kongressen.
Åh – og så skal du vel i la Drogerie? Skulle være helt fantastisk…
