Wheeeee!!! Billeder i morgen!!!

Wheeee!!! My Hvirvelstrøm cardigan (Ravelry link) from “Strik Naturligvis” (Knit Naturally) by Annette Danielsen is finished. I sewed it together tonight, and now I’m just waiting for it to dry after its bath… It feels fantastic to have finished it (it was just shy of 2 years on the needles). Pictures tomorrow!!!

Owls have been hooting around here the last few days. As so many others I fell in love with Owls by Kate from needled. I just had to knit that sweater, and action immediately took place. It only took a little week to have it all finished, and that’s including the hat, I just had to make too.

Mønster: Owls (ravel it) og min egen hat

Pattern: Owls (ravel it) and my own hat

Materials: Fabulous Fibres 10 ply pure wool (the last bit bought in New Zealand) and Isager Alpaca, a total use of 517 g (436 g for the sweater and 81 g for the hat)

Needles: 5½ and 6mm, thus a bit smaller than suggested, which resulted in me going a size or two up to.

Hot or not! It’s fabolous, nothing less. I already love it!

The COM (#3) of yesterday was almost a cheat, because such wee mittens for a small boy really takes no time at all (and only used up 8 g of yarn). MM seemed to think that they were acceptable… at least for tasting.
New project of the day: A pair of socks for Christmas (09) presents… one must prepare in good time.

This is clearly going to be the most perfect startitis month ever!!! And we’re only 3 days into it.

New project of the day: A pair of baby mittens for MM, so he won’t have to be embarrashed by having socks on his hands when being put out in the trolley to sleep.

The new project of the day: A hat with lots of cables

It’s a good thing that February is the shortest month of the year. Otherwise I’d probably end up drowning in new projects by the end of it. The reason? That I’ve joined the Cast-On Mania game in Village Hopelessly Overcomitted (Ravelry), where we have given our selves permission to start a new project each day during all of February. Pure startitis joy and no bad consience… can you feel that I’m giggling with joy?
The new project of the day: A pair of socks.

Tiny is a word that comes to mind when I look at the newest crochet needle in my collection… ok, it’s not mine, but one that I’ve borrowed from my mother. It is so itsy bitsy tiny that you can put 2mm glas beads on it without any problems. Originaly it served to ladder up stitches that had run in nylon stockings. It has been my great-grandmother’s.

I have searched for such a crochet hook for some time now, and then it turns out that my mother has had it all along. It seems to be fate that tells me that I need to start that large beaded lace weight shawl soon. It’s probably better not to pull all the beads on the fine, thin yarn from the beginning, but instead use the hook to loop them on.

During today’s visit with my mum, MM played the perfect child and slept for “long” = more knitting time for me! This resulted in another finished object, and one long in the coming too (amazing how long a pair of socks can take, when you forget to knit them).

Mønster/Pattern: Bed Knots (ravel it), MacKintosh Yarns Sock Club
Garn/Yarn: Yetti Yarn from MacKintosh Yarns, 42 gr.
Pinde/Needles: 3mm
The socks are surprisingly warm for such light socks, but then there is yak in the yarn. It is a wonderful yarn to knit with and I’m very happy with the socks.

You have to take care that one’s yarn stash doesn’t shrink too much… or at least that’s my excuse. Just imagine the horror of running out of yarn! As a precaution I’ve secured a couple of yard’s more knitting by taking an innocent shopping stroll on the net, or to be precise my new favorite site Eat.Sleep.Knit, which also has increased incentive for shopping in form of a Yarnaton.
The haul ended up being some Lorna’s Laces in worsted weight and some beautiful purple sock yarn I just had to try out. Thus I have to add 352 grams to the inflow of my stash account. I wonder if I can justify a short attack of the startitis?

Some things just have to be tackled in wee pieces, one at a time (like eating an elephant, which only can be completed in small bits). I have that feeling with the Six’es afghan, which consists of sooo many (210) hexagons that each need to be knit, washed, blocked and sewn together. But then I also believe that I’ll have the afghan I want.

Luckily I feel like I’m making progress. I’ve dealt with all the coloured ones, which are going to form a wavy band down the afghan. Now I just lack the rest of the grey ones, which will fill the rest (well, also the edge and finishing, but never mind)… I wonder if I’ll make my deadline? … I think, I’ll just tackle one more piece!
