Things take time, but slowly I’m getting through the pile of unfinished projects, both on the needles and here on the blog.

Just before the weather changed to baking oven temperatures (it’s easy to get me to whine over how hard it is to be very pregnant and overheated) I finished my beautiful Foxy Lady Sweater from Værbitt in Oslo.

I didn’t exactly finish it up in the snow on the mountain, but when I look at the sweater, I clearly remember the feeling of enjoyment knitting it in the cabin looking out on the glorious winter weather. The sweater is absolutely wonderful, and I look forward to wearing the heck out of it in the autumn… where it probably will fit me a lot better than it did when MM took on the role of photographer in the forest in April.

The yarn is Embla from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk in a lovely grey straight from the mill, and two gorgeous reds dyed by Værbitt. I am very happy with the combination and think it suits me well – even with a baby bump 🙂

The pattern was also very good – when I paid attention and read the instructions instead of just guessing – and I love learning new techniques like the feather stitch, which is the focal point on the sweater. If you’d like to see the technique, Værbitt has put a neat little video on the front of the homepage.

It has been a busy day for me, where I have been up and about almost the entire day. But I haven’t been alone in that regard, because there were rather a lot of people who spent their Saturday visiting #Knitwork16 in Copenhagen today. Many people means busy stalls and a lot of knit-talk.

I went to a talk by Annette Danielsen, who told us about her way into the knitting world and the world of knitwear designers, about being a full time knitter (i.e. that you knit as your work, you knit in your spare time, and you think about – and even dream about – knitting during the night), about her sources of inspiration (disclaimer: that would be everything), and her need for a context or framework for her work. She had a lot of good points to make and were as always an inspirational speaker – and I would joyfully have listened for a lot longer than the 30 min allotted. Afterwards I got to talk a little more with Katrine Wohllebe, among other things about her workshops, adn a bit about her beautiful new booklet “Sand”, which contains 6 designs with inspiration from the beach.

I also talked with other bloggers, knitters from far away (the US), who used the festival as a good reason to go to Copenhagen, old friends from Webstrikkerne (the web knitters), and just normal festival visitors – and I even got to “tattoo” some of them with the quirky and fun trick tattoos, that Signe has made – I got one myself as well. All in all, it was a good day to be among the knit tribe.
